HAMILTON — The Booktrader of Hamilton will host author, storyteller and musician Paul Evans Pedersen Jr. on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. for a program of songs and stories, based on the rich storytelling tradition of the Pine Barrens.
Through “The Legendary Pine Barrens: New Tales From Old Haunts,” a collection of dark and quirky short stories inspired by South Jersey folklore, Mr. Pedersen introduces a rogue’s gallery of weird and colorful characters in tales that run the gamut from offbeat explanations of natural phenomena, to unconventional takes on popular legends, to strange doings in mysterious Piney towns and taverns, according to a press release.
Mr. Pedersen puts his unique spin on such legendary local subjects as the immortal Jersey Devil, dancing bandit Joe Mulliner, and the mysterious Blue Hole of Winslow. With this literary feast, and his love for the Pine Barrens, Mr. Pedersen emerges as southern New Jersey’s most exciting new storyteller in decades.
Mr. Pedersen is an accomplished journalist, photographer, a musician and a multiple Grammy-nominated songwriter and recording artist.
He has been a reporter for a number of New Jersey publications. This unique program will be enhanced by Pedersen’s engaging storytelling and musical performance skills.
