Valley National Bank will host an Identity Theft Awareness event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14 at its Manalapan branch, 801 Tennent Road, Manalapan. This event is partnered with USA SHRED, which will provide an on-site truck to shred personal and confidential documents in an effort to help customers avoid becoming victims of identity theft. The branch will also host a coat drive.
Residents from the community are encouraged to bring documents such as old bank statements, checks, income tax returns, credit card statements, etc., that can be shredded on-site, free of charge. Manasquan Savings Bank has appointed Theodore F. Raffetto to its board of directors. Raffetto, a managing partner and CEO of Broad Data Services, Brick Township, brings experience with international organizations and innovative start-ups to the position.
Early in his career, Raffetto worked for Verizon (Bell Atlantic) for more than 20 years in senior positions including group president for business services, CEO of the Data Solutions Group and vice president of global accounts. He then joined the start-up Calix, where he built and led the major accounts team responsible for selling to the largest U.S. carriers. Calix went public in March 2010.
The Malvern School, a private preschool, recently opened in Marlboro and will hold an open house at 4 p.m. Dec. 18. The event, which is free and open to the public, will give parents a chance to tour the 8,000-square-foot facility, meet the teachers and staff, and learn about the Malvern program. Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, has announced the winners of the 20th annual Medical and Dental Staff Scholarship awards. The awards are available for children or dependents of full-time Monmouth Medical Center employees.
In 2013, the combined awarded scholarships funded through Monmouth’s medical and dental staff totaled $18,000. Recipients are selected by a scholarship committee based on accomplishments, grades, financial need and community involvement.
The 2013 scholarship recipients include Freehold Township High School graduate Deanna Johnson, Long Branch High School graduates Curtis Gunter and Sara Morales, and Middletown High School North graduate Christopher Stark.
Colors to Go, 620 Park Ave., Freehold, participated in the Benjamin Moore “Main Street Matters” campaign. For every gallon of Benjamin Moore paint that was sold from Aug. 15 to Sept. 30, $1 was donated to the campaign. The “Main Street Matters” campaign was launched to re-energize local communities through restoration projects and revitalization, and to support small businesses. Colors to Go, which is owned by the Kress-Curry family, raised $941 for Downtown Freehold.
