PRINCETON: One-day pet adoption event to be held Dec. 14

SAVE Animal Rescue is celebrating the holidays with a festive way to find homes for the animals in its care.

SAVE Animal Rescue is celebrating the holidays with a festive way to find homes for the animals in its care.
SAVE is joining six other local animal rescue groups on Saturday, Dec. 14, for Pup-Up, a one-day super adoption event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 33 Witherspoon St. in Princeton (entrance for location is at 1 Spring Street).
”Statistically, more families bring pets home during these gift-giving holidays than at any other time of the year,” said Michele Armstrong, founder of Lulu’s Rescue of Bucks County, Pa., who originated the event. “We organized Pup-Up to encourage those considering a pet to adopt from a local rescue organization rather than purchasing from backyard breeders, pet stores, puppy mills or other sources.”
Other organizations participating in the daylong event include Lulu’s Rescue, Kitty Junction, New Jersey Aid for the Animals and Brookhaven.
Ms. Armstrong anticipates there will be anywhere from 50 to 100 dogs and cats at the event. Each rescue will have a designated area for visitors to meet and greet animals available for adoption from their organization. There will be an adoption counseling area where rescue volunteers will speak with potential adopters to help match each family with its ideal pet, and an adoption processing section where the adoption will be completed.
Pup-Up will also feature a “Happy Beginnings” booth where each adopted pet will be photographed with its new family, celebrations for each completed adoption, and refreshments throughout the day.
”We want to educate the public about the importance of choosing pet adoption and show them how they can save a life by providing a forever home for a homeless animal this holiday season,” Ms. Armstrong said. “It is a true gift of love.”
