The funding approved by the Christie Administration, according to a release, and will go to support 67 projects in 20 school districts throughout the county, including multiple projects in the 7th Legislative District.
Among the local districts to receive funding are the Bordentown Regional School District, the New Hanover Township School District and the Springfield Township School District.
The districts received, $473,492, $329,001 and $2.15 million in state funds, respectively, toward $1.18 million, $760,103 and $5.38 million in projects.
”This significant investment from the state will make it much easier for local districts to provide a topnotch education to all students,” said Sen. Allen (R-Burlington). “A child’s environment greatly impacts their ability to learn. Assuring our classrooms and schools are safe, modern facilities equipped with necessary resources will go a long ways in helping students achieve their fullest potential.”
The funds awarded to districts in Burlington County are part of a total $507.7 million in state funds to help fund the cost of 1,538 individual school construction projects in 331 school districts throughout the state.
The grants represent at least 40 percent of eligible costs for projects and address health and safety issues, student overcrowding and other critical needs. The grants are contingent on local approval of the remaining cost to school districts.
