MANSFIELD — As the region experiences its third snow storm in just over a week township officials posted the snow removal and parking ordinance on the municipal website as a reminder for residents.
Under the ordinance, parking on any street when snow covered is prohibited. Cars found to be parked on roadways when snowfall is in excess of three inches, as measured in the municipal park lot, may be subject to a ticket.
Such fines include $50 for first offense, $100, for the second offense and $250 for third and subsequent offenses, according to the ordinance.
During extreme weather events, off-street parking will be permitted at the Mansfield Community Park, Country Walk recreation area parking lot and the Georgetown Park in the Mapleton Development.
In addition, lawn parking is permitted for 48 hours following the conclusion of a storm event, which includes a minimum of three inches of accumulated snowfall.
Vehicles left parked on lawn after the 48-hour period will be subject to the aforementioned street parking fines.
Also on the township website, officials sought to remind residents that Christmas trees will be picked up by the township on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
Residents are asked to have their trees curbside by 6 a.m. that morning.
