LAWRENCE: Teens attack, rob man of cell phone

A 29-year-old man was robbed of his cell phone at 7:24 p.m. Nov. 20 by a group of five or six teenagers as he was talking on it in the area of Latta Court in the Lawrence Square Village development, said police Sgt. Joseph Amodio.
The group of boys approached him and one of them put him in a chokehold. He was punched twice and then the boys — described as black males, all wearing hooded sweatshirts — took his Apple iPhone, valued at $400, and some cigarettes, Sgt. Amodio said.
No weapons were displayed, Sgt. Amodio said. The victim suffered a bruise near his right eye, but refused medical treatment. He canceled his credit cards, which were contained in the cell phone case, before they could be used.
