Exhibit features photo paintings

 “Imagine” “Imagine” Photographer and artist Alexander Agor of Marlboro will exhibit his collection of photo paintings at Dish Café in Highland Park.

Agor was born in Berlin, Germany, but he emigrated from Poland to Israel with his parents in 1959.

He covered the Six-Day War in 1967 for the Israeli Army as a war photographer for the publication Bamahane, a weekly newspaper by the Israel Defense Forces.

In 1968, he had his first photo exhibit in the Beit Sokolov Gallery in Tel Aviv. He worked as a photographer for the Haaretz newspaper’s magazine in Israel.

In 1969, Agor represented Israel in the sixth Biennale de Paris and was the youngest individual exhibitor in the show.

From there, he went to London, where he established himself as a photojournalist embedded in the theatrical and fashion communities.

He continued to work for Time Out London; Harper’s Bazaar; and the German magazines Der Spiegel, Quick and Derzeit.

Agor did press production photography for the Royal Court Theatre and the Mermaid Theatre, and covered the Aldwych Theatre’s World Theatre Season for the press.

In 1980, Agor moved to New York City and freelanced as a fashion photographer for the New York Times Magazine, among other publications. Dish Café is located at 327 Raritan Ave., Highland Park.

The café is open for breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. Dinner hours are 3-8 p.m. Sunday, 5- 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 5-10 p.m. Friday and 3-10 p.m. Saturday.
