Knights of Columbus No. 6201, 401 Bartley Road, Jackson, will host the 14th annual Race for Life cancer benefit on Feb. 23. Doors will open at 11 a.m. There will be full Daytona 500 coverage on seven HD flat screen televisions with surround sound, a gift auction, food, beverages, a cash bar, door prizes, children’s games and activities, and a T-shirt for the first 100 paying adults. All are welcome to attend. Admission is $12 for adults; $6 for children ages 12 to 18; and free for children under 12.
An 1830s birthday celebration for George Washington will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Historic Village of Allaire in Allaire State Park, Wall Township. A patriotic and commemorative service will be held in the chapel with the villagers of James P. Donations of prom dresses will be accepted at the Jackson Library, 2 Jackson Drive, Jackson, through April 5. Dresses may be long or short. Bridesmaid, cocktail dresses, shoes, handbags and accessories will also be accepted. The dresses will be distributed from 4-8 p.m. March 10-11 to middle school and high school students at no charge so they may attend their school’s graduation and dances.
