American Legion invites new members

JACKSON — Wartime-era veterans from Jackson and the surrounding area are invited to join American Legion Post 504, an arm of the nation’s largest veterans organization.

Honorably discharged veterans who served during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and in Lebanon, Grenada, Panama and the Gulf War, as well as during the War on Terrorism, are eligible to join, according to a press release.

The next meeting will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall, 401 Bartley Road, Jackson, at 7 p.m. March 12.

The guest speaker will be Judith Kapp, the Ocean County coordinator for the New Jersey Mission of Honor, an organization comprised of volunteers from veterans organizations and nonprofit groups.

Current American Legion members who reside locally and belong to another post — but are not active due to geographic constraints — are invited to transfer to Jackson Post 504 by bringing their current membership card to the meeting.

Former American Legion members are also welcome to inquire about rejoining.
