 “Word on the Street,” a spoken-word, open-mic event, will be hosted by the Jackson Writer’s Group and the Jackson Library, 2 Jackson Drive, Jackson, at 7 p.m. March 31. Thirteen local authors of numerous genres will share their writings in short readings and be available to answer questions. Published works, books, novels and promotional material will be available at the end of the program. The event is free and open to the public.  Boy Scout Troop 152 and Cub Scout Pack 152, both from Jackson, will hold a flapjack fundraiser breakfast from 8-10 a.m. May 10 at Applebee’s, 4721 Route 9 North, Howell. Cost is $10 per person.  A Meet the Mayor session with Jackson Mayor Mike Reina will be held at 7 p.m. March 31 in the the Jackson municipal building, 95 West Veterans Highway. Residents may attend and speak with the mayor.
