MANVILLE: Woman says she was bitten by dog

Police blotter, March 10-16

   A woman said a loose, unlicensed dog bit her on the hand and fingers while she was walking her dog on South 10th Avenue at 11:29 a.m. March 10. Police checked the West Camplain Road home of the loose dog and found no one home. The Board of Health was notified via fax.
   A caller at 3:29 p.m. March 10 said a North 2nd Avenue house that had been vacant for the past two years had a couple of the window blinds fully down and one of the screens near the front door was half-open. Later, the window screen was said to be now closed.
   Monique Traski, 36, of Manville, was charged with shoplifting after an incident at 5:41p.m. March 10 at Walmart on North Main Street. She was released after she posted bail on a warrant.
   Police checked on a 9-1-1 hangup and found that Mayor Angelo Corradino had accidentally misdialed when trying to phone out of the municipal building at 12:13 p.m. March 11.
   At 3:45 p.m. March 11, an Adesa official reported a stolen 2011 Hyundai Tucson valued at $5,000 stolen between Feb. 14 and March 8. It was entered in the national crime identification network.
   A Wilbraham, Mass., man came to headquarters at 1:49 March 12 to report his credit/debit card had been stolen at an unknown location and used multiple times to run up $2,500 in charges on Staten Island. He was advised to contact police on Staten Island and noted his visit on the record.
   A stray dog jumped into a car on Lincoln Avenue through an open window and wouldn’t leave, police were told at 7:29 a.m. on March 13. The dog had gotten out by the time police arrived and they couldn’t find the dog.
   Sgt. Ron Gazaway and Detective David Sheffrin transported Christine Zitzow, 47, of Edison, from Middlesex County Jail to Somerset County Jail at 9:49 a.m. March 13 in lieu of $500 on a Manville warrant for failure to appear.
   A barking dog would not allow a driver out of the car at Kennedy Boulevard and Onka Street at 3:03 p.m. March 13. Animal control was called.
   At 7:48 p.m. March 13 a Lincoln Avenue caller said that someone had let their dog out of the back yard between 6:30 and 7 a.m. that morning and it had damaged her vinyl fence near the gate. Estimated damage was $200.
   Police found and reunited a brown-and-white female pit bull, with no collar, with an owner who reported it lost at noon on Friday on Duke’s Parkway.
   Devraun E. Thompson, 28, of Piscataway was found to have a warrant from Lawrence Township after a motor vehicle stop at 2:15 a.m. Saturday. He was arrested, handcuffed, searched and brought to headquarters. He posted bail and was released pending his court date.
   A caller reported a dog in distress inside a vehicle near Walmart on North Main Street at 2:43 p.m. Saturday. Patrols found the car gone when they arrived.
   Dennis M. Hudak, 49, of South Bound Brook was charged with disorderly conduct at 6:51 p.m. Saturday on South Main Street. He allegedly was sitting outside and threatening customers and was asked to leave. When officers responded, he allegedly made verbal threats He was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
   Police investigated damage to a South Main Street car wash coin machine at 9:56 a.m. Saturday. Estimated damage was $2,000.
