Police charged a 40-year-old township man with hosting an underage drinking party last week.
According to police, Charles Nixon, a resident of the Brookside Mobile Home Park on Route 1, is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after police responded to his residence at 5:20 p.m. on April 15.
Officers were responding to a report of intoxicated juveniles fighting outside of a mobile home in the park.
When officers arrived they reportedly found four juveniles, ages 13-16, standing in front of a residence with minor cuts and bruises.
According to police, each of the juveniles had the smell of alcohol on their breath and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Police said the officers entered the residence and found “a heavily intoxicated” Mr. Nixon with several crushed beer cans by his feet.
A fifth juvenile was found intoxicated on a couch inside the home, and officers recovered several empty beer cans and a half-empty bottle of Travelers Vodka, police said.
The five juveniles were taken to police headquarters, charged with underage drinking, and released to their parents, police said.
The juveniles each face the loss of driving privileges and probation if convicted of the offense.
Mr. Nixon was also processed and released pending his first court appearance.
He faces up to three years in prison if convicted, police said.
According to police, none of the juveniles involved were related to Mr. Nixon.
