HOWELL — A motor vehicle crash claimed the life of a young man and injured two other people on the evening of April 16.

Police said Ronald Tremblay Jr., 21, of Howell, was killed when the car in which he was a passenger ran off Alexander Avenue near Larabee Boulevard.

Howell Police Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd said the crash occurred just after 10 p.m., and she identified the driver of the vehicle as Joseph Gonsalves, 20, of Howell.

Dodd said Gonsalves was traveling east on Alexander Avenue when his vehicle left the road at a curve. The vehicle struck several trees before coming to rest.

In addition to Gonsalves and Tremblay, Brandon Roselli, 21, of Manalapan, was also in the vehicle. Police said all three of the occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle.

All three young men were transported to Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood.

Police said Tremblay was in the back seat of the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt. He died of injuries he sustained in the crash.

Roselli was the front seat passenger, and he and Gonsalves were wearing seat belts, police said. Both young men were subsequently released from the hospital.

As of April 18, no summonses had been issued, and the investigation into the deadly crash was continuing.

Howell police were assisted at the scene by representatives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team, the Southard Fire Department and Howell First Aid.

Police are asking witnesses to contact Patrolman Matthew Cherney or the Traffic Safety Unit at 732-938-4111.
