Westley Russell of Jackson, a junior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Worcester, Mass., recently completed a hands-on research project in Namibia, Africa. The project was titled “Creating a Solar Light Distribution Plan for Students in the Informal Settlements of Windhoek, Namibia.”

At WPI, all undergraduates are required to complete a research-driven, professionallevel project that applies science and technology to address an important societal need or issue.

In addition, Russell was named to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring 2014 semester.
