Administrators’ pacts approved by Howell school board

HOWELL — The Howell K-8 School District Board of Education has approved contracts with three district administrators.

At its meeting on June 11 at Howell Middle School North, the board approved employment contracts with the incoming superintendent of schools, the assistant superintendent for pupil services and the business administrator/board secretary.

Joseph Isola has been promoted from assistant superintendent to superintendent to succeed Enid Golden. Isola’s contract covers the 2014-15 through 2018-19 school years at an annual salary of $165,000, plus merit pay.

Merit goals for the superintendent are to be developed and submitted for the executive county superintendent’s approval prior to Sept. 30 each year.

Isola’s contract is pending approval from the executive county superintendent of schools.

The board approved a contract with Patricia Callander, the assistant superintendent for pupil services. Callander will be paid $163,886 during the 2014-15 school year. Her contract is pending approval from the executive county superintendent of schools.

The contracts for Isola and Callander were approved in a vote of 7-0, with one abstention.

Voting to approve those two contracts were Board President Dr. Stephen Levine; Vice President Mary Cerretani; and board members Suzanne Brennan, Jeanne De- Pompo, Albert Miller, Chuck Welsh and Timothy O’Brien. Board member Mark Bonjavanni abstained on the vote, and board member John Van Noy was not present at the meeting.

Board members voted 8-0 to approve a contract with Ron Sanasac, the district’s business administrator/board secretary. Sanasac will be paid $159,515 for the 2014- 15 school year.
