ROBBINSVILLE: Officials get exclusive tour of new Amazon facility

On the eve of its grand opening, Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes, Robbinsville Mayor David Fried and Mercer Freeholders Pasquale Colavita and John Cimino were given an exclusive tour of the million-square-foot Amazon.com fulfillment site located in the Matrix Business Park in Robbinsville.
The extensive tour allowed officials and other upper-level staff from the county and township to witness firsthand the intricate inner workings of Amazon. The facility today was a beehive of activity in anticipation of the official start-up, according to a news release from Mercer County.
”Tomorrow’s official opening marks an exciting time not just for Amazon but for Mercer County,” Mr. Hughes said in the news release. “We believe that at the apex of operation, this Amazon site will be the busiest in the Amazon family of facilities, and we could not be more pleased that they’ve made a home in Mercer County.”
   Mayor Fried agreed.
”We’ve worked hard to help bring this day to fruition, and we’re as eager as Amazon to finally throw open the doors,” he said in the news release.
Also beginning July 16 is the new bus service called the ZLine, which will meet NJ Transit buses at Hamilton Marketplace and travel to the Matrix Business Park. The free shuttle service will offer an opportunity for riders, especially those employed or seeking employment at the business park, to easily reach the facility. ZLine is scheduled to stop in the business park at the Amazon Fulfillment Center and on Montgomery Way after it turns off of New Canton Way. The ZLine is a joint effort between Mercer County, the Greater Mercer TMA, NJ Transit and Amazon.
The Mercer County One-Stop Career Center continues to welcome job seekers who believe a position with Amazon might be the right fit for them. Free information sessions are held 10 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. Fridays at the One-Stop Career Center, 24 Yard Ave., Trenton. No appointment is necessary.
