HILLSBOROUGH: Supermarket employee charged with gift card theft

Hillsborough police said a Weis Supermarket employee Richard Mackenzie, 23, of North Plainfield was charged July 2 with theft by deception by allegedly stealing $680.75 worth of gift cards from the store. He was released and given a date to come to court.
Police also said:
— A Reed Road resident reported on July 6 the theft of fishing equipment from the outside of his residence, reportedly a month earlier. The total value of equipment was put at $1,815.
— A Flanders Drive resident reported July 9 that a ladder, valued at $300, had been taken from his driveway during the daylight hours of the previous day.
— An out-of-state resident reported July 11 that sometime in the previous day and one-half her vehicle was entered while it was parked in the driveway of an Ebert Drive residence. Stolen from the vehicle was a pocketbook with various items valued at $450.
