Open tryouts for New Jersey Youth Soccer’s 2015 Olympic Development Program (ODP) will be held on Aug. 2-3 and Aug. 9-10 at The College of New Jersey.

The program, in cooperation with U.S. Youth Soccer, identifies a select pool of boy and girl elite players born between 1998 and 2002 in each age group from which there is an opportunity to be selected to the U.S. Youth Soccer Regional and/or National Team.

Tryout times are based upon age group. To register and learn more, visit www.njyouthsoccer.com or call 609-490-0725.

These tryouts begin at the state level. N.J. Youth Soccer ODP players are selected by senior N.J. Youth Soccer coaches who are recognized for their ability to identify and train players with superior skills. Candidates are evaluated on four key soccer components: technique, tactics, fitness and athletic ability, as well as a psychological component — attitude.

Players initially selected for the program will become part of the N.J. Youth Soccer State Team pool from which the final State Team will be selected in early 2015. From there, State team players will be considered for Region 1 teams, which may also offer opportunities for international competition. Players who are selected for the Regional ODP team pools are also candidates for the National Team selection process.
