A 40-year-old Trenton woman was the apparent victim of an attempted sexual assault that occurred in the yard at the Ewing-Lawrence Sewerage Authority on Whitehead Road sometime after 3 a.m. July 26, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
The woman told police she was walking on Mulberry Street around 3 a.m. when a man in a car honked the car horn. She got into the car with him, and he drove off onto the Trenton Freeway, police said.
She told the man that she wanted to get out of the car, but he refused. He drove to the Ewing-Lawrence Sewerage Authority plant, police said. He tried to push up her skirt and get on top of her, but she yelled for help.
She was able to get out of the car and ran away, police said.
A Ewing-Lawrence Sewerage Authority employee heard the noise and called the Lawrence Township Police Department at 3:52 a.m. The would-be attacker was described as a Hispanic male, driving a black car.
