 The Shrewsbury Chorale, a mixed chorus of about 70 members, will hold open rehearsals on Sept. 9 and 16, beginning at 7:45 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, 1475 W. Front St., Lincroft. All local singers are encouraged to attend as the chorale begins rehearsing Pablo Casals’ “El Pessebre” (The Manger) in preparation for its December concert. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host “Forks and Corks: A White House Dinner” on Sept. 27 at Forsgate Country Club, Monroe Township.

The event will offer culinary enthusiasts the opportunity to dine on some of the White House’s signature dishes prepared by former White House chefs Guy Mitchell and Woody Raber.

In addition, the chefs will explain presidential protocol for food preparation, share stories about presidents and unusual menu requests, and display mementos collected during their service to former presidents.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a champagne reception. The event will feature raffles; a silent auction; and an inspirational message by Johnetta Alston Lake, an author, singer-songwriter, talk show host, publisher, recording artist and certified life coach who is living with multiple sclerosis.

 Congregation Ahavat Olam, 106 Windler Road, Howell, will hold a community wide Yizkor service at 3 p.m. Oct. 4 on Yom Kippur. The free service is open to the community. Details: 732-363-5190.

Forsgate Country Club will welcome well-known spiritual medium and medical intuitive Marisa Liza Pell at 7 p.m. Sept. 4.

The evening will feature a 90-minute “experience” where selected guests will receive messages of strength, hope and love from the other side.
