A 28-year-old resident of Millstone Township died after the motorcycle she was operating collided with another vehicle on Perrineville Road in Monroe on Aug. 26.

Rebecca A. Malter, of the Perrineville section, was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where she was taken following the crash.

Malter was heading south on Perrineville Road between Union Valley and Federal roads when her motorcycle collided with a northbound Kia Optima driven by Fiorella Lahara of Monroe.

Malter was thrown from the motorcycle, according to a Monroe Township Police Department report.

A Hyundai Sonata driven by Robert Kaita of Manalapan struck the motorcycle after the initial collision.

Lahara and Kaita were not injured during the accident, police said.

Malter was a veterinary technician for HomeCare Veterinary Services in Rocky Hill.

“It is with overwhelming shock and grief that we at HomeCare reach out to the family and to the many people that Rebecca Malter touched in her too brief and so caring life,” a message stated on the company’s website. “Her precious ‘good morning’ smile and efficient caring manner in handling anything will be so incredibly missed.”
