ART IN THE EVERYDAY

As the Stampede public art exhibit helped to unveil, Hopewell Valley is rich with talent and interest in the arts.
The Hopewell Valley Arts Council was thrilled to see how the community engaged with the oxen, but even more excited to witness its creativity at work — in selfies, photo albums and momentos, dress-like-the ox pictures and stories of inspiration.
In an effort to promote more creative opportunities for all and to bring a little more art in the everyday, the Hopewell Valley Arts Council will present its first workshop offerings for fall/winter 2014. Keep the winter doldrums at bay by stretching your creative muscles and challenge yourself to try something new!
—Bohemian Leather and Pearl Jewelry — On Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. or Nov. 22 at noon, join local artist and jewelry designer, Missy Brewster, to add some leather and luster to your casual wear . . . or to present a friend with a gift handmade made by you!
You will learn a variety of knots and other jewelry design considerations to recreate a class sample or make a design of your own. Workshop includes all supplies, including leather and fresh water pearls to make one 36-inch necklace or two bracelets. Additional supplies and finished jewelry will be available for purchase from the instructor.
Classes take place at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church (second floor), 80 W. Broad St., Hopewell.
