Scholarships available in Middlesex, Union

The Sue Marion Memorial Scholarship Fund is offering three scholarships of $2,000 to students residing in Middlesex and Union counties who are matriculating at religious colleges and universities.

To be eligible, students must currently be attending a religious college or university as a freshman, sophomore or junior; have a 2.75 GPA and submit grades from the past two semesters; volunteer with at least two school, community or religious groups; submit letters of recommendation from their pastor and two other responsible adults, such as a community service group leader, religious or Bible study group leader, professor, guidance counselor or employer; submit an essay regarding the degree they are pursuing, their career aspirations and why they should be awarded a scholarship; and supply proof of residence in the form of a driver’s license, insurance card or other.

The scholarships will be selected by a committee that includes Marion’s relatives and ministers in February, and winners will be awarded in March.

To apply, mail the required information to the Sue Marion Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1595 Kearney Drive, North Brunswick, NJ 08902. Submissions must be postmarked by Jan. 31.
