SOUTH RIVER — Two men are facing charges in connection with a November robbery at the Acapulco Tropicana Bar on Prospect Street.

Police said the robbery took place Nov. 17, when a male patron reported that two men took his cash and cellphone in the parking lot shortly after 1 a.m. South River resident Gehova Dejesus, 26, and Highland Park resident James Farace, 26, were charged on separate dates in January with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Detective Sgt. Robert S. Maclosky said police were led to the suspects after receiving tips via social media and over the phone.

Maclosky said this type of incident is unusual for that location, and that residents should not be overly concerned.

“This incident also appears to be an isolated issue,” he said. “We have not really had any other problems at the Acapulco for a long time.”

Both Dejesus and Farace are being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $100,000 bail. Anyone with information on the case should contact Detective Jason Klein at 732-254-9002, ext. 109.
