 A paddle auction will be held on Feb. 20 at Howell Middle School North, 501 Squankum-Yellowbrook Road, Howell. The event is sponsored by Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Troop 1016. Admission is $10 and includes one paddle, dessert and a beverage. Bring quarters to play the game. Guests may bring their own snacks and nonalcoholic beverages. Walk-ins are welcome.  The Jackson Library, 2 Jackson Drive, Jackson, will host local author Ruth Melon at 2 p.m. Feb. 25 as she discusses her book “Journey to the White Rose in Germany.” The White Rose movement was made up of a small group of students who attended Munich University during World War II and clandestinely distributed anti-Nazi and anti-war leaflets between June 1942 and February 1943.  Lauren Weiner of Aberdeen will present “Life is a Catbaret,” a musical revue to raise awareness for animal rights, at 8 p.m. March 28 at the First Presbyterian Church, 883 Route 34, Matawan. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors and students.
