New Jersey first lady Mary Pat Christie has announced the third annual Spirit of a Hero Scholarship for students graduating from high school. The $5,000 scholarships come from the Heart of a Hero program for military veterans.
To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must demonstrate commitment to volunteerism and community contribution; be a New Jersey resident and U.S. citizen; submit a high school transcript and letter of recommendation from a current teacher or advisor; be in good academic standing with their secondary school; and enroll as a student at an accredited college/university or a vocational training school in the 2015-16 school year (fall or spring semester).
Application forms are available at newjerseyheroes.org or can be mailed to NJ Heroes, P.O. Box 95, Mendham, NJ 07945-0095. The application deadline is 5 p.m. March 20.
