Sat., March 28 — Manville-Hillsborough Elks Lodge 2119 will host the Easter bunny at a breakfast from 9:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. at 1500 Brooks Blvd. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for kids ages 4 to 12, and free for those younger than 3. Bring your camera and join other activities. Breakfast of eggs, pancakes, French toast sticks, sausage. Proceeds go to kitchen improvements at the lodge.
Filet mignon dinner benefits rescue squad
Sat., March 28 — All-you-can-eat sliced filet mignon dinner benefits the Manville First Aid & Rescue Squad. VFW hall, 600 Washington Ave., Manville. Dinner served promptly at 6 p.m. $35 per person. Designer bag bingo helps theater group
Sat., March 28 — Somerset Valley Players holds a Designer Bag Bingo fundraiser for the theater on Amwell Road, Hillsborough.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 at the Hillsborough-Manville Elks Club, 1500 Brooks Blvd.

Manville parish sponsors sale of lamb, baked goods
March 29 and 29 — Christ the Redeemer Altar Rosary Society will sponsor an Easter bake and butter lamb sale on Saturday and Sunday, beginning with the Saturday 4:30 p.m. Mass at Christ the King Church and the Saturday 6 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Learn about library resources for job search
Wed., April 1 — Amy Atzert, adult services librarian and business and job seeker liaison for the Bridgewater branch of the Somerset County Library System, will speak on job and career resources available at the library in a program from 7-9 p.m. at offices of Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties, 150-A West High St., Somerville.

Ladies Auxiliary holds flower sale in Manville
April 2-4 — Manville North End Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 and Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual Easter plant sale, especially for gift giving will be available. A special sale night will be held on Thursday, April 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the firehouse at North 8th Avenue and Louis Street. The sale moves outside to the parking lot in the center of town on South Main Street from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Rotary Club will host annual Easter egg hunt
Sat., April 4 — The Hillsborough Rotary Club’s annual Easter egg hunt, a free event for children 8 years old and younger, begins at 10 a.m. at Pheasant’s Landing, 311 Amwell Road.
The Easter Bunny and 3,000 treat-filled eggs await children, who will be organized into three age groups for the hunt. Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served afterwards. Bring your cameras.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church holds Slavic dinner
Wed., April 8 — St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church holds its monthly dinner, 4 to 7 p.m., St. Mary Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd. $13 for adults (ages 9 and up) and $5 for children (8 and under). All-you-can-eat pirohi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes. A surprise entrée will be prepared by St. Mary’s chef John Pagano. Orders to go available. Basket auction benefits Sunnymead school group
Fri., April 10 — The Sunnymead HSA will hold its “Crystal Bright Future” basket auction at the Polish Falcons Catering Hall at 140 Falcon Road. Doors open at 6 p.m.; auction begins at 7:30. Admission of $20 includes light refreshments, desserts per table and one sheet of 26 Level 1 tickets.

Walk, run on ‘wild side’ to benefit Steps Together
Sun., April 12 — All fitness levels, young and old, are invited to walk or run laps on around the Hillsborough High School track .
Do something crazy on “National Walk on the Wild Side Day.” Dress in all neon pink, dye your hair green for a day, or do something everybody said you’d never do.
There is no registration or fee; just show up at the track between 7 a.m. and noon. When finished, write the number of laps completed and drop it in the lap jar.
At the end of the event, the laps of the entire community will be tallied. Funds will be raised by sponsors of the event who have committed to a per lap donation to the Hillsborough nonprofit Steps Together.
Grand Staff Ensemble plays fund-raising concert
Tues., April 14 — The Grand Staff Ensemble, which is made up of staffand friends of the Hillsborough School District, will play in concert at 7 p.m. at Auten Road Intermediate School to raise money for a high school senior planning to pursue a degree in music.
The concert will feature favorites under the direction of Nancy Ciacciarelli and Marc Angelone. Suggested donations at the door are: $5 adults, $2 students/seniors (55 and older), $10 for a family. Donations for the scholarship are always accepted.

Future Chefs will tempt palates in school cookoff
Fri., April 17 — Thirteen Hillsborough elementary school students will participate in the first Future Chefs competition, organized by Sodexo, at 6 p.m. in the Hillsborough High School cafeteria.
More than 100 district elementary students submitted healthy, after-school snack recipes and the 13 best were selected to participate in the districtwide finals. The students will prepare and present their recipes before being assessed on criteria including originality, taste, ease of preparation, kid friendly-ness and use of healthy ingredients.
Sodexo holds the district food service contract. The district winner will be considered for Sodexo’s regional finalist awards.
Garden club plans tea, basket auction
Thurs., April 23 — Randi Eckel, owner/operator of Toadshade Wildflower Farm, will talk to the Neshanic Garden Club about ways to landscape gardens with native plants at an afternoon tea and basket auction at 3 p.m. at Neshanic Valley Golf Club, 2301 South Branch Road, Neshanic Station. VFW meetings: Monthly meetings of Hillsborough VFW Post 8371 are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the county nutrition center, 339 South Branch Road.
