 The New Egypt Elks, 105 Lakewood Road, New Egypt, will hold a fish fry from 6-8 p.m. April 10. The cost is $10 for a three-piece fish dinner; $9 for a two-piece fish dinner; $9 for a three-piece chicken dinner; $8 for a two-piece chicken dinner; and $5 for all children’s dinners.  The parish community of St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 200 Alexander Ave., Howell, is keeping the doors of the cathedral open for visitors from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. through April 14. Details: 732-364-3330.

 From 6:30-9 p.m. April 21 at the Southard School, 115 Kent Road, Howell, the Howell Women’s Self-Defense Training Seminar will be presented by the Howell PAL in cooperation with the Howell Police Department, the Howell Chamber of Commerce and the Howell Community Alliance for the Prevention of Drugs and Alcohol. The seminar is for ages 13 and up and will be taught by Cpl. Fred Bauer, a career law enforcement officer. Attendees are asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food (canned) for the Howell Food Pantry. Register by April 15 by calling 732-961-0370.

 Plumsted Youth for Nature and the Environment will hold a community cleanup to celebrate Earth Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 2. Participants should meet at the Plumsted municipal building.
