Area teen places first at math competition

Kush Singh of North Brunswick placed first in the national finals for the 10th-grade division of the MathCON math competition in Chicago on April 25.

The sophomore competed against 45,000 students from 330 schools in 42 states. Kush studies at the Middlesex County Vo-Tech’s Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies in Edison. He received the Achievement Award for Excellence, which was presented to the most outstanding school at MatchCON 2015 for the high school division.
