The untold story of the world’s most famous sex symbol will be revealed in Lifetime’s miniseries event, “The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe,” premiering May30th and 31st at 8 PM ET/PT. Kelli Garner (The Aviator, Pan Am) plays the legendary star in Lifetime’s four-hour event. Many closely guarded secrets that the blonde bombshell kept from the public will be uncovered. Academy Award-winner, Susan Sarandon, plays Marilyn’s mother, with Emily Watson and Jeffrey Dean Morgan also headlining the cast. Based on J. Randy Taraborrelli’s bestselling novel of the same name, “The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe” begins with a portrait of a young Norma Jeane Mortenson as she battles a lonely and loveless existence with an absent mother. Despite the odds, Norma Jeane blossoms into a funny, smart and ambitious woman and soon reinvents herself to become the symbol of an era.
TLC sings into spring with the premiere of “The Willis Family” on Tuesday, May 5 at 10 PM ET/PT. The 13-episode series will follow Brenda and Toby Willis as they share the challenge of maintaining their large, fourteen-member family while keeping up with the workload required to manage their touring band.
Throughout the season, viewers will follow the Willis family as they produce and record their new album. In one episode, Brenda’s kids make sure she has a birthday that Brenda will not soon forget.
Showtime will debut season two of the critically-acclaimed psychological thriller “Penny Dreadful” on Sunday, May 3 at 10 PM ET/PT. The sophomore season will find Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) forming a deeper bond as the group unites to banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them.
