The ninth annual stream cleanup was a huge success thanks to all the volunteers who helped by donating their time to make Millstone Township a cleaner place. This was the largest turnout of volunteers, with some familiar faces from previous years as well as some new ones.
The cleanup, which was sponsored by the Millstone Township Environmental Commission and the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, collected more than 1,380 pounds of trash, 67 bags of trash, 22 bags of recyclables and three tires.
All those who participated enjoyed the chance to meet other members of the community and support a common cause. A special thanks to William J. Johnson, Clean Communities Coordinator Monmouth County, the Millstone Township Department of Public Works, and Lori Maher, Millstone Township Clean Communities liaison, for their support.
The stream cleanup is an annual event and will be held next year in the early spring. Show your support and come out and join the group.
