– Little House plans May 8 Tricky Tray

The annual Little House Association of South River Tricky Tray is set for May 8 at the South River Portuguese Club, 100 John St. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. First drawing will be at 8 p.m.

Prizes will include large theme baskets; gift certificates for restaurants and shops; tickets to sporting events and theaters; a flat-panel HDTV; outdoor deck furniture; Vera Bradley, Kate Spade and Alex and Ani merchandise; a tablet; hopper passes for four to Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla.; and more.

Light desserts and coffee will be served. Guests may bring food. Soft drinks, water and snacks will be available for purchase.

Admission is $8 at the door only and includes one sheet of regular prize tickets; advance purchase is not available. Individuals must be age 18 or above to attend.

– Vendors welcome at Strawberry Festival

St. George’s Anglican Church, 56 Main St., Helmetta, will hold its fourth annual Strawberry Festival June 6. Vendors are sought.

The family friendly, free event will feature food, vendors, music, children’s activities, church tours and strawberries.

– OLV Knights plans charity golf outing

 

Our Lady of Victory Knights of Columbus Council No. 2061 will hold its annual Jack Caffrey Memorial Golf Outing May 11. Breakfast and registration are scheduled for 9 a.m. Shotgun start will follow at 10 a.m.

Cost is $125 per golfer and includes lunch and beer at the turn, soda and water stations, a golf shirt, and dinner with open bar and awards at the Knights home, 775 Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville. Proceeds will help support the post’s charity activities.

– ‘Henna House’ author will appear at library

Author Nomi Eve will discuss her second novel, “Henna House,” at a Meet the Author session planned for 1 p.m. May 12 at the Monroe Township Public Library, 4 Municipal Plaza.

The novel tells the story of a young woman coming of age in an early 20th-century community of Yemenite Jews.

Books will be available for purchase and signing after the talk. Registration is not required.

– Journalist to speak at Republican club

The Middlesex County Republican Women’s Club will meet 7-9 p.m. May 12 at the East Brunswick Public Library, 2 Civic Center Drive, East Brunswick. The guest speaker is award-winning journalist Charles W. Kim, who has more than 20 years’ experience in media, including print and broadcast.

“The Best Campaign School in New Jersey” will be discussed in June, as well as the Middlesex County Fair, which will be held Aug. 3-9.

– Chamber of commerce to host May 5 job fair

Assemblyman Joe Danielsen and the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a job fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 5 at The Imperia, 1714 Easton Ave., Somerset.

Various companies, colleges and community organizations will be in attendance.
