Two local residents will serve time for burglaries and thefts that occurred in several municipalities across Monmouth County from April to June 2014.
Zachariah T. Famula, 26, of Manalapan, and Eugene A. Reeves, 27, of Freehold Township, were indicted in September on numerous counts of burglary and theft.
Charles Webster, public information officer for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, said that on April 10, Famula was sentenced to seven years in state prison and ordered to pay almost $14,000 in restitution.
Webster said that on April 17, Reeves was sentenced to six months in the county jail and ordered to pay $880 in restitution.
Famula was charged with 22 counts of burglary, 23 counts of theft of movable property, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Reeves was charged with 20 counts of burglary and 22 counts of theft of movable property.
Beginning in late April 2014 and continuing until the end of June, Famula and Reeves stole landscaping equipment and tools from dozens of properties in Millstone Township, Upper Freehold Township, Freehold Township, Manalapan, Marlboro and Howell, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Both men were arrested in June.
Authorities charged that Reeves and Famula sold the items they stole in New Jersey at a pawn shop in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, according to Webster.
Both men were accused of entering sheds, garages and landscape trailers and stealing items that included backpack blowers, power washers, a generator, grass trimmers, chainsaws, a cordless saw, a drill, an air compressor, a leaf blower and various tools.
