Nurses honored for dedication to patients

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) recognized its nurses for their commitment and dedication to patients during National Nurses Week.

Monroe resident Ka Ying Lee, who works at the New Brunswick campus, was named the 2015 Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Magnet Nurse of the Year.

The following awards were also presented at the Nursing Excellence Awards Ceremony in New Brunswick on May 4 and in Somerville on May 6:

Teresa Damito of Freehold received the Virginia H. Joseph Award; Junerose Gambito of Manalapan received the CCT/PCT Award; Susann Krane of North Brunswick received the Advanced Practice Provider Award; Myrna Young of North Brunswick received the Transformational Leadership Award; Mary Racel Villarica of Dayton received the New Knowledge Innovation and Improvement Award; and Denise Gerhab of Iselin, who works as clinical nurse educator with Wound Care Specialty, received the Kathleen Cummins Advanced Practice Nurse Award.

The following local residents graduated from the nurse residency program: Kristin Andrews of Manalapan, William Navarro of Matawan, Darshi Patel of Old Bridge, Naomi Rindenau of East Brunswick, Lindsey Setaro of Red Bank, Charles Smith of North Brunswick and Emily Vogt of Edison.
