EDISON — Active members of the U.S. military and their families are invited to receive complimentary admission to Middlesex County’s Plays-in-the-Park this summer.
“It’s impossible to overstate the service and sacrifice that our military has given us,” Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios said. “I know the entire Board of Chosen Freeholders is very excited to offer this program, and about giving back to those who serve our nation.”
This year’s season consists of the Mel Brooks musical comedy “Young Frankenstein,” June 17-27; the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic “Oklahoma!” July 8-18; and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar,” July 29-Aug. 8.
All performances begin at 8:30 p.m. Performances are not held on Sundays.
Two family-friendly curtain times will be offered for “Oklahoma!” with the July 13-14 shows beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Because of a limited number of reserved seats, advance reservations are recommended. Service members are asked to call the Parks Office at 732-745-3936 prior to the show they wish to attend for reservations. Proper ID is required when picking up tickets.
The theater is located at Roosevelt Park’s Stephen J. Capestro Theater, 1 Pine Drive, Edison. Seating will be provided. Refer to the county website at www.co.middlesex. nj.us and search “Plays-inthe Park” for more information.
If a performance is canceled due to bad weather, patrons may save their ticket stubs and use them to attend any future summer performance at no additional charge. Ticket stubs are valid for exchange up to one year after the rained-out performance.
Patrons requiring assistance due to a disability should contact Jackie Neill, recreation supervisor, at 732- 745-3936, prior to attending a performance so that any special needs may be met. The program also offers audio-description performances, open-captioned performances and performances with sign-language interpretation.
