HILLSBOROUGH: Will GOP treat Christie’s scandal the same as Clinton’s emails?

To the editor:
As the 2016 presidential election gradually gets closer with each coming day, the GOP candidates continue to come from every which way. While Hillary Clinton remains the clear favorite for the Democratic nomination, it seems as if all of the candidates still have a chance in the GOP race.
For years, Hillary Clinton has been in the national spotlight. In 2008, she ran for president but was ousted by Barack Obama for the nomination. After the race, she became the Secretary of State, where she was counted on to contribute to the country. While Secretary of State, she made the grave mistake of using a personal e-mail, which could have put the entire country in danger. With the technology that we have these days, her e-mail could have easily been hacked, exposing important information to those who should not have it.
The question still remains: is this enough for her to lose the trust of her supporters? While her carelessness could have hurt the country, it has not thus far, which should be enough for her to still get the Democratic nomination, and possibly the presidency. Her qualifications, involvement in the government, and leading position in the Democratic Party should guarantee her the nomination.
The GOP race remains wide open due to the wide variety of possible candidates. Ted Cruz, who has been in the spotlight for years, remains possibly the favorite for the nomination, while politicians such as Scott Walker and Jeb Bush are the other potential contenders. It should be interesting this summer to see who ends up being the favorite for the GOP nomination.
While many Republicans have criticized the scandalous actions of the current Secretary of State, a possible candidate for the presidency on the right side is Chris Christie, who has been surrounded by scandals for a solid amount of time. His involvement with “Bridge-gate” has put him in the national spotlight in a very bad way. It will be interesting to see how the Republicans who criticized Clinton for her e-mail mishap react to criticism of Christie’s bridge scandal. I assume that they will end up eating their words because, Honestly, what else can you do in that situation?
Regardless of who gets nominated from either party, this is going to be an exciting race for sure and this summer is going to be extremely intense.
