LAWRENCE — Jason Turner, 35, of Pennsauken, has been charged with attempted burglary and criminal mischief after he tried to break into a Village Court home at 9:23 p.m. June 15, according to police Lt. Joseph Amodio.
A neighbor called police to report a suspicious car in the area of Gordon Avenue, Lt. Amodio said. The caller said a man got out of the car and was walking along the fences at the rear of several homes. Police responded to the neighborhood.
While police were checking the area, a Village Court resident called at 10:34 p.m. to report that someone tried to break into the house by smashing a rear window, Lt. Amodio said.
Police cordoned off the area and began to look for the man. Mr. Turner “popped up” from behind a bush near the house that he allegedly tried to burglarize, and was apprehended by police, Lt. Amodio said.
He was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $25,000 bail, with no 10-percent option.
