PRINCETON: Woman injured in garden rake mishap

By Lea Kahn, Staff Writer
A Randall Road resident suffered a non-life threatening injury when she stepped on a garden rake that pierced her small right toe Wednesday morning, according to the Princeton Police Department.
The 55-year-old woman told police she was gardening in her back yard when she accidentally stepped on the rake, police said. She was conscious and alert when first responders — police and the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad and its EMS Technical Rescue unit — arrived.
The EMS Technical Rescue unit used a power tool to remove the tine from the rake. She was taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro to have the tine surgically removed from her toe, police said.
