The accolades keep pouring in for Hopewell Valley’s towns.
In March, New Jersey Family magazine rated Pennington the best town in all of New Jersey for families.
This week, it’s Hopewell Township’s turn to bask in glory.
As noted by Paul Pogorzelski, Hopewell Township administrator and engineer, the website, Homesnacks, has rated the township No. 4 in its Top Ten List of the best places to live in the Garden State.
“Hopewell Township has a long and illustrious history, and its ranking in the top five of our best places to live is just another notch in its belt,” a Homesnacks spokesperson said, adding the township has the second highest household median income in the state, adjusted for cost of living, at $185,862.
“That’s not to mention that its proximity to both New York City and Philadelphia gives residents plenty to do on the weekends,“ the spokesperson added.
Rated by Homesnacks as the No. 1 town in the state to live in was nearby Readington Township in Hunterdon County. Parsippany-Troy Hills Township and Bernards Township came in second and third, respectively.
Coming in at numbers five through 10 behind Hopewell Township were Morris Township, Hamilton Square, Hillsborough Township, Bridgewater Township, Raritan Township and Montville Township.
Explaining how the rankings were compiled, the Homesnacks spokesperson said, “Before we even started to collect data, we had to answer a tough question: How big do you have to be to be included on our list? After collecting data for all 717 places in New Jersey, we, ultimately, decided to limit the best of the best to populations over 5,000. This left us with 407 places to rank.”
Criteria for rankings included the unemployment rate (Hopewell Township’s rate is 5 percent, Homesnacks said), the adjusted median household income, the education factors of expenditures of student and student-teacher ratio and commute times.
