After fighting a brave battle against cancer, Eunice Clare Cunningham (nee Schaaf) passed away at the Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, Fla., on June 21, 2015, at the age of 73.
Eunice was predeceased in August 2014 by her husband of 54 years, James Edward Cunningham, and in 2011 by her daughter, Kathleen.
Eunice is survived by her loving children, Michael, Jimmy, Amy and Kristen; her daughters-in-law, Ellen and Regina Cunningham. Eunice is also survived by her five grandchildren who were the sunshine of her life, Jameson, Cassidy, Logan, Connor and Aiden.
Eunice is lovingly remembered by the countless others who have over the years considered her a “mom,” as her heart and her home were always open to anyone who needed it. Eunice spent a life of service to the community, friends, relatives and loved ones. Eunice was the epitome of a selfless human being who never thought of herself first and touched the lives and hearts of many.
Eunice was born in Staten Island, N.Y. She graduated from Tottenville High School and soon after moved to New Jersey to raise her family and plant roots in Clarksburg. From being on the Millstone welcome wagon, to Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, babysitter, Elks member and business owner, Eunice left her mark on countless lives and shared love and laughter with all she encountered.
Eunice loved gardening and being outdoors. She was an avid shell collector. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and allaround jack-of-all-trades. The world was a better place having her in it and she will be terribly missed.
A memorial service will be held for Eunice and Jim in Clarksburg during the latter part of August 2015. Details will be shared shortly.
