The Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Raritan Bay Medical Center (RBMC) recently celebrated the opening of its new office located in the Medical and Surgical Pavilion, 2 Hospital Plaza, at the medical center’s Old Bridge division. The office includes dedicated space to expand patienteducation programming and a demonstration kitchen where the center’s registered dietitian and various area chefs will share techniques to make meals and snacks that are tasty, healthy and diabeticfriendly.

The diabetes center’s team includes Medical Director Reema Patel, M.D., and Dragana Jokic, M.D., both board certified in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism and internal medicine; a registered dietitian; a nurse educator; and other medical and support professionals to provide comprehensive services. Dr. Patel is fluent in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Urdu. Dr. Jokic is fluent in English, Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian.

The American Diabetes Association has recognized the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at RBMC with an Education Recognition Certificate, which acknowledges high-quality diabetes self-management education programs.

The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) of Middlesex County, East Brunswick, has announced the following promotions and staff changes:

· Ezra Helfand, who previously served as acting executive director and program director, has been appointed executive director.

· Helen Varvi and Lauren Balkan have been named deputy directors.

· Lizette Fallon has been named director of Finance.

· Lissette Mejia-Bacharde has been named program assistant and executive assistant.

· Mara Carlin, BS, CPS, Preventionist II, has moved from a part time position to full time.

· Jeanne Neuwirth, MSW, LSW, Clinician I at Pathways, has moved from a part time position to full time.

· Jelysa Hernandez, LSW, MSW, has been retained as a full time Clinician I at Pathways.
