LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thanks for being receptive to Eden

To the editor:
Since 1975, Eden Autism Services has forged important relationships with local communities to afford our participants living with autism with the best opportunity to lead meaningful lives.
As a nationally recognized leader within the autism community, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those on the autism spectrum by providing community-based services across the lifespan.
An integral part to this mission is the development of community living options where adults with autism can live and be encouraged on their paths to independence. Today, Eden operates 22 group homes and supported apartments throughout the Central New Jersey region.
East Windsor has always been receptive to Eden’s pioneering components of the adult support system. In fact, our first group home was developed in East Windsor in 1979. Even in times when lack of awareness surrounding autism led other communities to fear and, in some cases, even protest the creation of new group homes in their neighborhoods, East Windsor and its local government have always welcomed our residents with open arms.
Eden continues to enjoy calling East Windsor home for some of our residents and we greatly appreciate the genuine friendliness shown to our residents on their trips around the community.
On behalf of our participants, families and staff at Eden, we extend a big thank you to East Windsor for being so welcoming and kind to the autistic community and those working in support of it. Eden Autism Services greatly appreciates your efforts to help make the lives of those with developmental disabilities as healthy and full as possible, and we look forward to continuing to work and live alongside you in the future.
