LAWRENCE — A Franklin Corner Road resident’s description of two people who broke into his car July 12 led to the arrest of a man and a woman who had also broken into cars on Sturwood Way and Shirley Lane, according to police Lt. Joseph Amodio.
Kevin Olaughlin, 23, of Dayton, and Amanda Edlich, 22, of Monroe Township, were charged with three counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, credit card theft, identity theft, possession of burglar tools (wire cutters) and theft, Lt. Amodio said.
Ms. Edlich also was charged with receiving stolen property for having a credit card in her possession that had been reported stolen from a South Brunswick resident, and with possession of narcotics for having a prescription drug in her possession that had not been prescribed for her.
The pair broke into cars parked on Sturwood Way and Shirley Lane overnight between July10 and July 11, Lt. Amodio said. They also broke into a car belonging to a resident of the Franklin Arms rental apartment complex on Franklin Corner Road around 8 a.m. July 12.
The Franklin Arms apartment complex resident confronted the couple, who fled on foot, Lt. Amodio said. The victim was able to supply police with a description of the two suspects. Police found them and brought them back to the victim, who identified them as the people who broke into his car.
Mr. Olaughlin and Ms. Edlich were taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center. Bail for Mr. Olaughlin was set at $44,750 bail with the 10-percent option, and Ms. Edlich’s bail was set at $40,250 with the 10-percent option.
The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are pending, Lt. Amodio said.
