Temple Emanu-El slates July events

Temple Emanu-El, 100 James St., Edison, will host Tot Shabbat at 6 p.m. July 17. An age-appropriate learning program for children up to age 6, it will also include a Jewish-themed arts-and-crafts session.

“Shabbat Under the Stars” will be held July 24. Dinner starts at 6 p.m.; services outside under the stars with music and song will be held at 7 p.m. Attendees should bring Shabbat dinner for their families. Temple Emanu-El will provide drinks, challah and dessert. A “berry” special oneg will follow the outdoor service. Bring a berry creation for everyone to enjoy. Visitors and friends are welcome.

Erev Tisha B’Av Program will be held July 25. Learning sessions led by Rabbi Vaisberg and Cantor Marer will be followed by a service featuring a reading from the Book of Eichah (Lamentations). Bring a flashlight, as the service will be conducted in a darkened room, befitting the atmosphere to mark the seriousness of the austere occasion.
