BETH EL NEWS

By Steve Guggenheim
I’m not going to services…it’s summer. And besides, who wants to be inside on a beautiful summer evening?
Well, now you can have your kugel and eat it too. Beth El’s “Shabbat on the Lake” will be held Friday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. at the gazebo on Lake Drive in Robbinsville’s Town Center. Make sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
The seniors present “Opera’s Bad Girls and Their Victims” on Sunday, Aug. 2, at 3 p.m. There will be selections by Bizet, Donizetti, Mozart, Verdi and others. Admission is $5, but please make reservations by July 27.
Broadway comes to Beth El. Well, not exactly, but Beth El Theatre Productions is putting on a new play by congregant Jeffrey Milstein. Auditions will be held Aug. 12, Aug. 13, Aug. 17, Aug. 19 and Aug. 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The play has been performed in New York City and was selected as a fundraiser for ALS. On-stage and off-stage positions are available. Contact the synagogue for more information.
The “Summer Shabbat Sermon Series” continues through September. Members of the synagogue give the Saturday morning sermon.
Want to get involved but don’t want to go to monthly meetings? Do you spend time on Facebook and Twitter? Then you might be interested in becoming Beth El’s social media coordinator. Call for more information.
