HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP: Police use Narcan to rescue drug overdose victim

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP — A Lawrence man was rescued from a drug overdose by Police Officer Michael Peterson on Tuesday afternoon in Washington Crossing State Park.
Township police responded to a 9-1-1 call at 4:21 p.m. form a 26-year-old Titusville woman who reported that the man was having a seizure.
When police arrived they found the 23-year-old man unresponsive. Officer Peterson determined that the man was suffering from a drug overdose and administed a dose of Narcan. He also performed rescue breathing with a bag valve m ask, police said. Narcan is the trade name of the heroin overdose antidote naloxone.
The man revived after about two minutes of treatment. He was transported to an area hospital by Hopewell Valley Emergency Services where he was treated and released, police said. 
