HILLSBOROUGH: Hawks win East Brunswick Slugfest tournament

The Hillsborough Hawks 8-and-under travel baseball team won its second tournament of the season this week. Competing in the East Brunswick Summer Slugfest, the Hawks completed the tournament with a 4-0 record.
In pool play, the Hawks outscored East Brunswick, RBI and Monroe Gold by a combined 44 runs to 12. The championship game was a rematch with Monroe Gold, and the Hawks won, 8-2.
The pitching was led by Brian Quabeck with two victories and Shailen Patel and Max Romanok with one each. Logan Raghunath, Quabeck and Patel had 0.00 ERAs and Quabeck led the team with 13 strikeouts.
The offense was led by Alex Reiling, Cole Hayden, Jack Moran and Patel, who all ended the tournament with batting averages over .600. Hayden led the team in runs, while Moran paced the team in RBIs. Jack Minetti hit a home run for the Hawks, while Jason Roser added two stolen bases. Roberto Santiago, Logan McDermid and Jack McLaughlin were on base all weekend.
The Hawks will wrap up season with tournaments in South Brunswick and Burlington. 
