HOPEWELL VALLEY: New Christine’s Hero is Hannah Lee of Hamilton Square

Christine’s Hope for Kids has announced the latest Christine’s Hero, Hannah Lee, of Hamilton Square.
Since 2010, Hannah has volunteered at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, preparing meals for local homeless families. Each week, she also offers a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on at Good Grief, a peer support bereavement center.
Over the past few years, she has donated her time with the Appalachian Service Project, rebuilding homes for the poor. Currently, Hannah serves as president of Mosaic, an organization committed to broadening awareness of the differences and similarities that exist among students at her high school.
Hannah is a senior at Steinert High School in Hamilton where she has been recognized for an array of scholastic, musical and athletic achievements. This includes induction in the National Honors Society and Spanish National Honor Society, participation in the school choir and musicals and involvement in travel softball and soccer.
Jean Gianacaci, co-founder of Christine’s Hope for Kids, said, “We are proud to have Hannah Lee as our newest Christine’s Hero. Kids that give unselfishly of their time to help others often go unrecognized. That is why this award is so important to our foundation.”
In January 2010, 22-year old Christine Gianacaci, of Hopewell Township, and several of her classmates from Lynn University traveled to Haiti on a mission of hope; to help children and to feed the poor. When a massive earthquake struck Jan. 12, the Hotel Montana in Port-Au-Prince collapsed, and Christine, along with three other students and two professors, were killed.
The Christine’s Hope for Kids Foundation was created to continue the legacy and spirit of Ms. Gianacaci, and her desire to help underprivileged children have an opportunity for a better life.
