Vets receive tribute rifles at VFW convention

PITTSBURGH — VFW Commander in-Chief John W. Stroud was presented with a Henry Repeating Arms Military Service Tribute Rifle during the joint opening session of the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ 116th National Convention held in Pittsburgh.

Anthony Imperato, president of Henry Repeating Arms, Bayonne, presented the rifle on July 20 to thank Stroud for his service to the country and for his leadership service to the nation’s veterans.

Imperato also recognized five distinguished veterans, presenting them with a Military Service Tribute Rifle: U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Eugene L. Perrino Sr.; U.S. Army Command Sgt. Major, Retired, Tim Green; U. S. Navy Third Class Radioman John Wrinkle; Air National Guard Retired Tech Sgt. Shannan F. Brown; and U. S. Marine 3rd Battalion Michael Depew were the recipients.

Imperato also gave the VFW a $50,000 donation in honor of his father, who served in the U. S. Army in Korea from 1953- 1955.

Henry Repeating Arms, one of the country’s leading rifle manufacturers, dates back to 1860 when Benjamin Tyler Henry invented and patented the first practical repeating rifle during the Civil War. Henry rifles went on to play a significant role in the frontier days of the American West. The company’s manufacturing facilities are in Bayonne, NJ, and Rice Lake, WI.
