HILLSBOROUGH: 24-year-old volunteer fireman dies in motorcycle accident 

A motorcyclist found dead Saturday after his Yamaha went off Millstone River Road is being identified as Kyle Scheuerman, 24, a volunteer with the Millstone Valley Fire Department and a lifelong resident of Franklin Township.
The accident was discovered at about 11:29 a.m. north of the Blackwell Mills Causeway.
Hillsborough police have yet to confirm that identity of the victim, but the fire department website said Mr. Scheuerman left the fire department on Amwell Road, across the river from Millstone Borough, on a motorcycle at about 9:40 p.m. Friday.
“After not returning within a few minutes, several members began a local search for him until the early morning hours of Aug. 1, 2015,” the entry reads. “As the search resumed in the later morning of the 1st, we received notification that a single motorcyclist was found down on Millstone River Road. This motorcyclist was later identified as missing firefighter Kyle Scheuerman.”
The police report said the 2008 Yamaha YZF R6 drove off the right side of the road, hit a mailbox and continued across the road, off the shoulder, and hit a utility pole.
The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Millstone River Road was closed in both directions for about four hours while the crash was investigated. The accident remains under investigation by Hillsborough police.

A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, with a Fire Department service at 7:45 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish Center, 34 Yorktown Road, Hillsborough. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 State Route 27, North Brunswick.
According to an obituary, Mr. Scheuerman graduated from Franklin Township High School in 2009. He was a varsity swimmer and cross country and track athlete. He also joined the JROTC at Franklin High School. He continued his education at Raritan Valley Community College.
The obituary said Mr. Scheuerman was employed by Advent Design in Bristol, Pennsylvania, as a shipping and receiving clerk.
In 2014, the Millstone Valley Volunteer Fire Department named him its Firefighter of the Year, said Stephen Stasek, fire chief.
